    165 years BK Cookware

BK Cookware celebrates 165 years by sounding gong

BK, part of the Euronext Amsterdam listed Royal Delft (ticker symbol: PORF), celebrates its 165th anniversary. In an internationally very competitive market the company has managed to set the trends regarding cooking and dining for more than a century and a half.

According to the government, innovation is the engine of the competitiveness of the Dutch economy. The future of Dutch enterprises is mainly seen in the design and development of new products. These are exactly the elements of the manufacturing process on which BK has been focused since its establishment in 1851. BK develops and designs pans, kitchenware and cutlery which fit in with the trends in society.

BK's strong position in the highly competitive market for cooking and dining is also the result of its concentration on the demands of individual consumers. The company develops applications which fit in with the cooking style of people as well as their lifestyle. For this BK carries out intensive research into the wishes of consumers and in trends. BK is celebrating its jubilee with a substantial television advertising campaign, supported by bus stop advertising, advertising via the website and via social media. Furthermore, consumers receive a dinner discount card, when buying a BK product.

The 7,500 industrial businesses generate 15% of the regional income and 10% of employment. By investing in sustainable innovation, entrepreneurs, education institutes and the authorities jointly focus on achieving the third position for the Gelderland industry.

    TechShare

TechShare comes back for its second edition!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure to welcome a group of ambitious and fast-growing Belgian companies for the first evening session of TechShare, Euronext’s pan-European programme for promising and unlisted tech companies. By launching this programme one year ago, we had one goal in mind : give business leaders in the tech community a better understanding of what financial markets do and how they work. With this knowledge, entrepreneurs can consider their growth strategies, decide whether the time is right to list, and prepare in good time.

For this new edition, we are very proud to have 10 successful candidates on board, namely Awingu, iTeos, Ometa, Opinum, Ovizio, Sentiance, Synergia Medical, Unified Post and two companies that preferred not to disclose their participation. We are also very lucky to benefit from the support and knowledge of a group of well-known partners, all selected for their sector-specific expertise.

To kick off this first evening session, we invited participants and partners for a closing bell ceremony at Euronext, which was the perfect opportunity to allow entrepreneurs and market professionals to learn to know each other. After the bell, we went to the BNP Paribas Fortis Chancellery for the first coaching session organised by Baker & McKenzie and BNP Paribas Fortis. Topic of the evening: Understand the interest of financial markets, the different types of tools offered and the companies for which it is suitable.

It was a fruitful and interactive session and we are definitely looking forward to the next ones.

The Dutch Payment & Exchange Company opens the trading day at the Amsterdam exchange. Rolf van Woerkom, Head of Marketing & Sales, sounds the gong accompanied by his colleagues.

Thousands of transactions in foreign currencies are being executed by Dutch entrepreneurs on a daily basis. Banks charge high fees in order to process these transactions, which could accumulate into high costs. The Dutch Payment & Exchange Company (NBWM) is a newcomer to this industry. They charge 5 EUR for international payments in foreign currencies, which makes them approximately 90 percent cheaper than some of their peers.

“The high level of digitalization into this current world also translates into a connection between all national payment systems”, says Pieter-Jan Datema, CEO and founder of NBWM. “A client can add all the data himself in order to execute a payment, without interference of a bank.”

Euronext celebrates its strategic relationship with Qatar Stock Exchange

Mr Rashid Al Mansoori, CEO of Qatar Stock Exchange rang the closing bell for the Euronext Paris markets, alongside Stéphane Boujnah, CEO of Euronext.

Today Euronext welcomed a senior delegation from the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) led by the CEO Mr Rashid Al Mansoori. To celebrate the occasion, Mr Al Mansoori rang the closing bell for the Euronext Paris Markets, alongside Stéphane Boujnah, CEO of Euronext.

QSE is the principal stock market of Qatar and its primary aim is to support Qatar's economy by providing a venue for capital raising for Qatari companies. Like Euronext, QSE provides investors a platform through which they can trade a variety of products in a transparent and efficient manner.

QSE has operated a customized version of the Universal Trading Platform since 5 September 2010. Technology is a critical factor in Qatar’s journey towards recognition as a world-class financial centre and this is one of the reasons that they use the same industry-leading technology as Euronext.

Qatar is a major investor in France and other European countries and QSE is a strategic client for Euronext. The relationship between the two Exchanges dates from 2009 and encompasses both technology and business opportunities. Furthermore, the importance of Qatar in Middle Eastern and, increasingly, in global financial markets means that this is a relationship with significant potential for future European issuers and investors.
