Van Lanschot Kempen in AMX Index

Van Lanschot Kempen NV will be included in the AMX Index as of Monday 20 March. At the same time, the company will also become part of the AEX ESG Index. 

To celebrate this milestone Anniek Braat, Teamleader entrepreneurs at Van Lanschot Kempen, opened the trading day by sounding the Gong.

Cor Weel – Winner of the AEX contest during the Investor Fair

At last year’s BeleggersFair (Investor Fair), Euronext Amsterdam had the opportunity to meet the participants and asked them to predict the closing price of the AEX-Index. The prize was to open a trading day with a traditional Gong Ceremony. Cor Weel correctly predicted the correct price with a difference of just 0.06 and was therefore invited to celebrate by striking the Gong.

Euronext Amsterdam - Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality

This International Women’s Day, it’s time to embrace equity. By organising a series of events, Euronext Amsterdam wants to encourage the necessary discussion on how to progress gender equality in the financial sector, and to increase the visibility for the empowerment of all women. Recognising the contribution women make around the world in bringing about the necessary change we want to see.
 
International Women’s Day will be kicked off in the morning with the traditional Gong ceremony, to ‘sound the Gong’ for gender equality, in partner with UN Women the Netherlands and UN Global Compact Netherlands. The celebration of this international day will also be closed off with a Closing Gong Ceremony.

Euronext Amsterdam – Celebrating 40 years of the AEX-Index

The famous AEX-Index was the first national blue-chip index in Europe. It was founded on 4 March 1983.  The AEX-Index contains 25 companies from the top segment of Euronext Amsterdam, including many multinationals such as Royal Dutch Shell, Unilever, Heineken and ASML.

The index was developed by Tjerk Westerterp, the former CEO of the European Options Exchange (EOE). He designed this very first index on the back of a cigarette box, on a train journey between Liège and Luxembourg. He came up with 13 funds: ABN Bank, Ahold, Akzo, Amro Bank, Gist-Brocades, Heineken, Hoogovens, KLM, Royal Dutch, Nationale Nederlanden, Philips, Unilever and Nedlloyd. Eleven of these thirteen ‘founding fathers’ are still present in the current AEX-Index and Midcap Index.

Nowadays, the AEX-Index is still the benchmark for the Dutch capital market. The companies included in the index are still largely of Dutch origin and the composition of the index remains a reflection of the developments in the Dutch economy and society.

To honour the 40th anniversary of the AEX-Index, Euronext Amsterdam welcomed two generations of family members of the founder Tjerk Westerterp for a traditional and celebratory Gong ceremony.

CFA Society Netherlands 2023

Today, CFA Society Netherlands and CFA Institute rang the Gong to celebrate five years since the merger of two Dutch professional associations for investment professionals, CFA Society Netherlands and VBA Investment Professionals.

Margaret Franklin, President and CEO of CFA Institute, sounded the Gong to mark the occasion.

ACTIAM - Best investment professional 2022

Every year ACTIAM asks over one hundred investment professionals for their predictions on the AEX index and the best and worst stocks for the coming year. This poll is now in its 30^th year.

The investment professional who made the most accurate predictions in 2022 to win the ACTIAM Best Stock Market Expert prize was Jan Pieter van Wijngaarden, Sales Trader at Kepler Chevreux.
In honour of this award, he opened trading on Euronext Amsterdam this morning by sounding the gong.

25th anniversary Diligence

Diligence celebrated its 25th anniversary this morning by sounding the Gong. Harry Helwegen, acquisition specialist and Director of Diligence, sounded the Gong in the presence of his team.

Over the past 25 years, Diligence has completed 540 acquisition transactions.

ComplyLog x Euronext | Loyens & Loeff

Today Euronext held a traditional Gong ceremony to open a joint event celebrating the implementation of the EU Whistleblower Directive in the Netherlands.

Scholenstrijd schools competition

Today, students from the Rijnlands Lyceum in Sassenheim were welcomed as the winners of the autumn challenge of the 2022 School Competition. The group won with a return of 9.49% on their virtual investments.

The competition saw thousands of high school students participate in a digital investment challenge. An initiative of Stichting Capital Amsterdam, Scholenstrijd is a semi-annual event that is part of the broader BeleggerUitlegger (Investor Explainer) education platform.

Robert Ligtvoet, teacher of maths and investments, sounded the Gong in front of his class.

ELITE-Euronext Group in the Netherlands

Today the Gong was sounded to mark the next step in developing ELITE, Euronext SMEs ecosystem to support private companies by connecting them to skills, network, and capital to drive their sustainable growth.

ELITE is teaming up with Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, nlgroeit and ScaleUp Company to contribute to the development in the country.

30 years SPDR ETF

This morning the State Street SPDR team was welcomed for a traditional Gong ceremony. State Street today celebrated the launch of the first SPDR ETF that was born 30 years ago.

On 7 February, it was exactly one year ago that Oyens & Van Eeghen adopted the name of its parent company: Delen Private Bank.

323 Trading – 20th anniversary

323 Trading is a trading house specializing in algorithmic trading and market-making strategies since 1998.

323 Trading operates on several European stock and derivatives exchanges and is one of the most active liquidity providers in the Dutch index and stock option market.

This morning Director Eelco de Groot struck the Gong to celebrate the 20th anniversary of 323 Trading.

Children’s Mayor of Amsterdam 2023

Today Amsterdam's new children's mayor, Thymen (12 years old), opened the trading day on Euronext Amsterdam in the presence of Amsterdam's mayor Femke Halsema. 

The children's mayor tells the Municipal Executive what children think is important and what their wishes are for the city. Thymen is helped by the children's council. Together they ensure that the wishes and ideas of children end up on the agenda of Amsterdam's politicians

Euronext Amsterdam – Kick-off pre-IPO Programme TechShare

For the 8th time, Euronext has organised TechShare, the successful pre-IPO programme. This educational programme supports European Tech companies that want to go public in the next one to three years and is organized in nine European countries.

Following the kick-off of TechShare at Euronext Amsterdam, René van Vlerken, Head of Primary Markets NL & CEE, welcomed both participants and partners of the programme for a traditional Gong ceremony.

Today Arina Freitag, CFO TenneT, opened the trading day by sounding the Gong to celebrate 6.85 billion EUR of Green Bond issuances in 2022.
