International Women’s Day 2019

Chantal de Vrieze, Managing Director at Econocom Belux, rang the Bell to open the trading day in Brussels in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019. Nele van der Borght, the representative from Women in ETFs and Eglantine Eeckhout, Change Facilitator at The Shift/Global Compact Network Belgium were also on stage to give inspiring speeches related to the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day: “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change’.

For the fifth consecutive year, more than 75 stock exchanges across the globe took part in global initiative ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’, to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019 on Friday 8 March 2019.

The events are a partnership between IFC, Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, UN Global Compact, UN Women, the World Federation of Exchanges and Women in ETFs, to raise awareness about the business case for women’s economic empowerment and the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.
