Optiver Celebrates 40th Anniversary at Euronext Amsterdam

Marking the launch of Mini ETF Options at Euronext Amsterdam

On 10 March, representatives and associates from Euronext marked the launch of Euronext’s mini ETF options by sounding the gong to open the trading day on Euronext Amsterdam.

Guests were welcomed by René van Vlerken, CEO of Euronext Amsterdam. The launch of mini ETF options is an important step towards making listed markets more accessible to a wider group of investors, in line with the strong growth and increased retail activity seen in the European ETF market in recent years.

Celebrating International Women’s Day at Euronext Amsterdam

Today, Euronext Amsterdam participated for the twelfth consecutive year in the global ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ initiative, organised by the Sustainable Stock Exchanges and the United Nations. In Amsterdam, Linda Senden, Professor of European Law at Utrecht University and representative of UN Women Netherlands 2026, sounded the Gong in honour of this special occasion. 

As in previous years, the day featured a comprehensive programme with inspiring speakers and representatives from the Dutch capital market, AEX-listed companies and, this year, the United Nations. With this year’s theme ‘Balance the scales’, Euronext highlights the importance of the participation of both women and men in the discussion on gender equality. The celebration of International Women’s Day at Beursplein 5 was organised in collaboration with UN Women Netherlands, UN Global Compact Netherlands and Women in ETFs Netherlands.

CSG listed on Euronext Amsterdam – largest IPO ever in the defense sector

On January 23, Czechoslovak Group (“CSG”) was listed on Euronext Amsterdam (ticker code CSG). It was the second listing of all Euronext markets this year and the largest IPO ever in the defense sector.

CSG is one of Europe's leading defense companies and a major supplier to NATO countries, among others. CSG raised €3.8 billion with the IPO. The company's market capitalization was €25 billion.

Michal Strnad, owner of CSG, sounded the gong together with his team to celebrate the first day of trading, in the presence of René van Vlerken, CEO of Euronext Amsterdam.

Shell celebrates 135 years of listing

On 12 December, Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell, opened the trading day on Euronext Amsterdam by sounding the gong to mark Shell's 135th anniversary and its long history as a listed company in Amsterdam.

Shell is one of the oldest listings on the Amsterdam stock exchange and one of the “founding fathers” of the AEX index, continuing its role as a driver of innovation and sustainable energy solutions.

Besi celebrates 30 years of listing

Richard Blickman, CEO of Besi, opened the trading day on 5 December by sounding the gong to celebrate 30 years since their IPO.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, Besi is a global leader in semiconductor equipment, delivering innovative solutions that power electronics, automotive, cloud computing, and mobile technology worldwide.

Winner of the Young Captain Award Announced

The winner of the Young Captain Award 2025 rang the Gong this morning, entirely in keeping with tradition, at the Amsterdam stock exchange building.
Kaya de Lange, CEO of the online pension provider BeFrank, opened the trading day as the brand-new award recipient. For more than fifteen years, the prestigious award has honored promising young leaders in Dutch business.
Paul Noordam, Senior Sales Manager at Euronext Amsterdam, welcomed the company during this festive occasion.

Euronext welcomes ATHEX Group

This morning, the trading day at the Amsterdam stock exchange was opened with a gong ceremony to mark the successful completion of Euronext’s acquisition of the ATHEX Group. Bell ceremonies took place simultaneously across all Euronext locations.

Since its creation 25 years ago, Euronext’s purpose has been to build integrated European capital markets. From today, ATHEX – the Athens Stock Exchange – becomes part of this strong and connected European network, enabling the Greek economy to access a broad and deep global pool of capital.

Robert Bakker, Head of Issuer Services Operations and Managing Board Member of Euronext Amsterdam, sounded the gong together with colleagues.

Welcome Macquarie as new member on Euronext markets

On 18 November 2025, we welcomed Macquarie as a new member of the Euronext markets.

Through its Commodities and Global Markets business, Macquarie has joined Euronext Amsterdam and Paris as: 

• Clearing and Trading Member for the Commodities markets 

• Trading Member for the Equity Derivatives markets 

By joining the Euronext markets, Macquarie further expands the range of derivatives products available to its clients, including agricultural (Euronext MATIF), power with Euronext Nord Pool (in 2026), and financial instruments. 

Camille Beudin, Member of the Executive Committee and Chief Diversification Officer at Euronext, welcomed Macquarie’s team, led by John Cunningham, Managing Director - EMEA Head of Futures Clearing Sales, and Richard Jones, Senior Vice President - Head of Futures Clearing Sales, for a bell-ringing ceremony at Euronext Paris.

The World Trade Center Amsterdam team celebrates 40 years with a gong ceremony at Euronext Amsterdam. WTC opened it's building in 1985 as one of the first ones on the Zuidas.

PwC celebrates partnership with Euronext Amsterdam

This morning, PwC Netherlands opened the trading day at Euronext Amsterdam with a gong ceremony celebrating their long-standing partnership.
The event recognized PwC's continued collaboration with Euronext in supporting companies on their journey to becoming successfully listed, while also providing an opportunity for PwC team members, including younger employees, to experience the exchange firsthand. The gong was sounded by Cathy van Stekelenburg, Director at PwC Netherlands, in the presence of colleagues and partners.

Exchange Drumming 2025

Today, the trading day began in a particularly loud manner: nearly 100 enthusiastic children drummed up the trading day in festive spirit.

Every year, schoolchildren are invited to come for “Exchange Drumming” in Amsterdam. This tradition dates back to the 17th century, when an orphan boy from Amsterdam saved the stock exchange from an attack by the Spanish occupiers. As a thank you, he and his friends were allowed to drum in the stock exchange building – to enjoy the special acoustics.

More than four centuries later, this tradition is still honoured, and drumming at the stock exchange remains a cheerful and symbolic start to the trading day.

Euronext Amsterdam and Defence join forces for national resilience

Today, State Secretary for Defence Gijs Tuinman sounded the gong to mark the signing of the covenant between Euronext Amsterdam and the National Reserve. This agreement supports employees who wish to serve as reservists and facilitates their participation in reserve activities. With this collaboration, the Amsterdam stock exchange is confirming its ambition to contribute to national and European resilience and to strengthen the link between the business community and Defence. It is a concrete example of how Euronext also contributes at a local level to a resilient, safe and sovereign Europe.
Euronext Amsterdam is the fourth location within the group to sign a similar covenant, following earlier agreements in France, Denmark and Norway. More partnerships with local military reserves in Europe will be signed in the coming months.

Sequoia Vermogensbeheer celebrates 25th anniversary

The team of Sequoia Vermogensbeheer sounded the gong at Euronext Amsterdam this morning to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. Director Dian Huyssen van Kattendijke gave the official gong strike to open the trading day.

SemmieWealth marks a new growth phase

SemmieWealth, formerly known as Semmie, opened the trading day at Euronext Amsterdam this morning with the traditional gong sound. CEO Bernadette Wijnings struck the gong on behalf of the asset manager to celebrate two important milestones: the recent rebranding of the company and the beginning of a new growth phase driven by trust, innovation, and customer centricity.
