Amsterdam, Athens, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo and Paris – 14 September 2026 – Euronext, the leading European capital market infrastructure, today opened the fourth edition of Euronext Sustainability Week, entitled “Building resilience in a changing world”.

Held across 37 events in 11 countries, Euronext Sustainability Week will bring together more than 3,200 participants, including policymakers, investors, issuers and regulators, demonstrating its growing impact across Europe's sustainable finance landscape.

The 2026 edition reflects the evolving sustainability landscape, where resilience, security and strategic autonomy are increasingly integrated alongside traditional environmental, social, and governance priorities. This year, Greece is participating in the pan-European initiative for the first time, with Athens hosting the flagship event, further strengthening Euronext's commitment to fostering dialogue and advancing sustainable finance across the full breadth of its markets. This commitment is also reflected in Euronext's efforts to expand sustainable investment opportunities in Greece, with the launch of two new indices and market initiatives to increase the visibility of Greek companies and help connect Greek issuers with the growing demand for sustainable investment.

More broadly, Euronext Sustainability Week is also an opportunity for Euronext to unveil a series of indices, investor tools, governance solutions and retail investing initiatives, all designed to strengthen Europe's economic resilience and competitiveness.

Stéphane Boujnah, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board of Euronext, said: "Europe is entering a new era where competitiveness, resilience and sustainability are increasingly interconnected. Today, companies and investors face climate change, energy, security and geopolitical uncertainties that are reshaping the environment in which businesses operate. In this context, sustainability is increasingly recognised not simply as an environmental or regulatory agenda, but as a question of resilience and strategic autonomy. Capital markets have a critical role to play in mobilising long-term investment, to allow businesses, markets and societies to adapt, endure and create long-term value in a changing world. Euronext Sustainability Week provides a unique platform to bring together the financial ecosystem around these shared priorities."

Investors conferences and meetings

A key highlight of this year’s edition is the expansion of the Infrastructure, Energy and Defence Investor Conference beyond Italy into a pan-European platform for investment dialogue. The event brought together 120 institutional investors and around 40 listed companies from Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal. Approximately 1,000 one-to-one meetings were held throughout the conference, alongside a digital Sustainability Investor Conference featuring 50 companies.

Euronext advances its own long-term climate commitments

Alongside its role in supporting sustainable finance through its markets, Euronext continues to advance its own sustainability ambitions. As set out in its Innovate for Growth 2027 strategic plan, the Group has formally established its first science-based long-term climate targets, which are currently undergoing validation by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Reflecting this progress, Euronext ranked in the top 10% of companies globally in the 2025 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

New ESG indices

Euronext is expanding sustainable investment opportunities in Greece with the launch of two new indices: the Euronext Athens ESG Index and the Euronext Athens ESG Tilted Index. Developed using Sustainalytics data, the indices are designed to increase the visibility of Greek listed companies and support ESG-focused investment strategies. Looking ahead, issuers listed on Euronext Athens will also gain access to My ESG Profile following the migration of the Greek capital market to the Optiq® trading platform in June 2027, enabling them to communicate their sustainability performance through a standardised investor-facing platform.

New guidance and initiatives for listed companies and investors

As the sustainability landscape and investor expectations continue to evolve, Euronext is expanding the resources and tools available to listed companies and investors. During Euronext Sustainability Week, the Group is launching new guidance, market insights and collaborative initiatives to support more transparent and effective ESG practices.

Investor Stewardship Guide – A new introductory guide to investor stewardship developed with the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (UN SSE) initiative, with contributions from the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and Chapter Zero Alliance. It includes practical case studies from Snam, Veolia, DPAM and the French Sustainable Investment Forum (FIR).

ESG Trends Report 2026 – An annual report based on aggregated My ESG Profile data, analysing sustainability performance across Euronext-listed companies and highlighting key developments in emissions reduction, diversity, climate commitments and sustainability reporting regulation.

ESG Reporting Guide – The 2026 edition was released to support issuers in navigating the evolving European sustainability reporting framework following the Omnibus reforms and preparing for the next phase of ESG reporting.

Euronext Sustainable Network – The network continues to grow with the addition of HSBC, S&P Energy, DPAM and UN SSE, reinforcing collaboration and thought leadership across the sustainable finance ecosystem.

Practical training on Science-Based Targets – Euronext Academy will launch a learning programme on carbon footprint and Science-Based Target setting.

Excellence in governance

Euronext's governance solutions business, Admincontrol, is expanding its digital governance platform, with new capabilities designed to help boards strengthen decision-making, evaluate competencies and improve execution.

Competence Assessment for listed companies – Extending Admincontrol's existing board evaluation suite beyond regulated banks to listed issuers and governance-driven organisations, enabling structured assessments of board skills and collective competencies.

AI-powered search and meeting summaries – Now available across eight European languages, helping directors quickly retrieve information and generate concise summaries of board materials while maintaining secure, permission-based access.

In parallel with this, the Euronext Academy, together with Envisia – Boards of Elite, will launch the Corporate Governance in Financial Markets Certification Programme, further strengthening governance expertise across European capital markets.

Retail participation and financial literacy in European capital markets

Resilient capital markets are strengthened by broader retail participation and stronger financial literacy. Through education, innovation and improved access to investing, Euronext and the Euronext Foundation are helping build a more inclusive capital market ecosystem that supports long-term sustainable growth.

Following a successful first edition that attracted more than 6,100 registered students, the Euronext Trading Game, an initiative launched by the Euronext Foundation and powered by NextWise, returns on 5 October 2026 and expands to Greece. This year’s edition will be bolstered by new partnerships with Better Finance, Finanz and CFA Brussels.

In Amsterdam, the Euronext Foundation launches the AEX Experience, an interactive educational programme at the historic Amsterdam Exchange, in partnership with Stichting Capital Amsterdam. Through guided visits featuring insightful videos, games and quizzes, the programme introduces students to financial markets, helping them understand how and why to invest. The initiative welcomes school groups throughout the academic year.

Euronext has launched Equity Direct Distribution in Italy, a digital solution that enables retail investors to participate directly in public share offerings through participating financial intermediaries; the service looks to help issuers broaden access to domestic retail capital.

Nations’ resilience in Europe

As Europe's leading capital market infrastructure, Euronext has expanded its sustainability agenda to include Energy, Security and Geostrategy (the New ESG) as key pillars of long-term resilience. As part of this commitment, Euronext has established a dedicated framework to support employees who serve or wish to serve as reservists. Since its launch in 2025, the initiative has led to partnerships with local reserve forces in six European countries, reinforcing Euronext's contribution to national resilience throughout its markets.

Partnerships signed since 2025:

  • In Copenhagen with InterForce Danmark, on 19 September 2025
  • In Paris with the Garde Nationale, on 1 October 2025
  • In Oslo with the Norwegian Home Guard, on 3 November 2025
  • In Amsterdam with the Korps National Reserve, on 12 November 2025
  • In London with the UK Ministry of Defence, on 2 December 2025
  • In Brussels with Belgian Defence, on 22 April 2026.

Euronext recently received the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award from the UK Ministry of Defence and the Prix de la Garde nationale in France. These awards recognised Euronext's commitment to supporting employees serving as military reservists.
