Avantium CEO Tom van Aken sounds the Euronext gong together with the company’s Zambezi team. Today, chemical technology company Avantium celebrates its first anniversary as a listed company. The Zambezi process is a ground-breaking technology that produces high-quality sugars from non-food biomass for use in chemical products, materials and fuels.

Avantium plans to open a pilot biorefinery for the Zambezi technology this year – another milestone for this forerunner in renewable chemistry. To develop this biorefinery, Avantium formed a consortium with AkzoNobel, Chemport Europe, RWE and Staatsbosbeheer last year.

Avantium’s revolutionary renewable chemistry solutions span from invention to commercially viable production processes. Together with partners around the world, Avantium develops efficient processes and sustainable products made from biobased materials.
