Context

The QA team at Euronext Clearing operates within a large-scale, enterprise-grade system supporting critical Clearing business processes. The project includes more than 60,000 automated tests and continues to grow in both functional coverage and technical complexity.

While the majority of the team focuses on test automation, this role is dedicated to the business and functional dimension of quality: deeply understanding the Clearing platform’s business logic, translating complex regulatory and operational requirements into clear test scenarios, and leading manual test design and execution for critical business flows.

The selected candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, development teams, and the automation team, ensuring that test coverage accurately reflects real-world business processes and edge cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional and regulatory requirements, building a deep and continuously updated understanding of the Clearing platform’s business logic
  • Lead test design activities for complex business scenarios, defining test strategies, test plans, and detailed test cases covering critical user journeys
  • Execute manual tests on critical business flows, including functional, regression, and exploratory testing
  • Identify edge cases, exceptions, and business rule nuances that automated suites may not cover, and translate them into actionable test scenarios
  • Act as a business/functional reference point for the QA Automation team, supporting them in correctly interpreting business requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to clarify requirements and validate that the implemented behavior matches business expectations
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews, providing early feedback on testability, completeness, and business consistency
  • Document test results clearly, including evidence for audit and regulatory purposes typical of a mission-critical financial environment
  • Use AI-based tools to support test design and test documentation activities (e.g. accelerating test case drafting, scenario generation, and documentation structuring)
  • Perform root cause analysis on functional defects in collaboration with development, automation, and operations teams

Required Skills

Business Analysis & Domain Knowledge

  • Proven seniority in business analysis, with demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and formalize complex business requirements
  • Strong understanding of capital markets / financial services business processes (mandatory)
  • Prior experience in post-trade, clearing, or settlement domains — e.g. CCP, CSD, SWIFT messaging, T2S — is a preference, though not mandatory for highly skilled candidates from adjacent capital markets backgrounds
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards used in securities settlement, including:
  • ISO 15022 (MT) message types — e.g. MT540/541/542/543 (settlement instructions: Receive Free, Receive Against Payment, Deliver Free, Deliver Against Payment) and MT544–548 (settlement confirmations and status advices)
  • ISO 20022 (MX) message types — e.g. sese.023 (Securities Settlement Transaction Instruction, the ISO 20022 equivalent of MT54x) and related sese family messages (cancellation, status query, confirmation)
  • Understanding of the ongoing ISO 15022 → ISO 20022 migration in the securities settlement space, and its impact on message structure and business validation rules
  • Knowledge of the FIX (Financial Information eXchange) Protocol, the standard messaging protocol used for pre-trade and trade communication (e.g. order entry, execution reports, trade confirmations) between trading venues, brokers, and clearing members
  • Ability to read and interpret regulatory documentation, business specifications, and functional design documents
  • Ability to map business processes end-to-end and identify functional dependencies, exceptions, and risk areas

Test Design & Execution

  • Solid experience in manual test design: test strategy, test plans, test case writing, traceability matrices
  • Strong experience in manual test execution, including functional, regression, exploratory, and UAT-style testing
  • Ability to design test scenarios directly from business requirements and regulatory constraints, not only from technical specifications
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g. Jira, Xray, Zephyr, or equivalent)
  • Experience defining acceptance criteria and validating user stories from a QA perspective

AI & Documentation

  • Interest or hands-on experience using AI-assisted tools to support test case drafting, scenario generation, and test documentation
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to produce clear, audit-ready test evidence

Tooling & Collaboration

  • Comfortable working with Jira or similar tools for requirement and defect tracking
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical (automation/dev) and non-technical (business) stakeholders
  • Basic familiarity with Git/repositories is a plus (not required to operate directly on code)

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent ability to understand, structure, and internalize complex business logic
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate between business and technical language
  • Proactive, quality-oriented mindset with attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in regulated, mission-critical enterprise environments
  • Ownership mindset on test design quality and business coverage completeness

Education

  • University degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred); equivalent professional experience in capital markets business analysis will also be considered

Languages

  • Fluent English, both written and spoken (mandatory). Daily interaction with international teams and stakeholders is required.
