Celebrating Global Money Week with Vlerick Business School

Global Money Week is an international money awareness celebration which takes place in the second week of March annually. Global Money Week engages children worldwide in learning how money works, including saving, creating livelihoods, gaining employment and entrepreneurship. Global Money Week is an initiative of Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI).

Therefore Maureen Nova Ledesma of the Vlerick Business School rang the Opening Bell in Brussels on 11 March 2015 in the presence of Rens van den Broek of CYFI. Associations and companies like Mastercard, WSBI and Ashoka were also present.

The Bell Ceremony was followed by a presentation for the students of Vlerick Business School by Vincent Van Dessel, Chairman and CEO Euronext Brussels.

New Delta Lloyd CEO rings Brussels opening bell

Hans van der Noordaa opened on 10 March 2015 the European markets as the new CEO of Delta Lloyd.

As from 1 January 2015 is Hans van der Noordaa appointed as new Chairman of Delta Lloyd’s Executive Board. Hans van der Noordaa will succeed Niek Hoek in his function. Niek Hoek will retire on 30 June 2015 after having served on Delta Lloyd’s Executive Board for 18 years, including 14 years as chairman.

Listing of 15 year Belgian benchmark linear bonds (OLO)

On Tuesday 17 February 2015, Anne Leclercq Director Treasury & Capital Markets of the Belgian Debt Agency, opened the European stock markets with a Bell Ceremony to celebrate the listing of the € 4 billion 15 year benchmark OLO issued by the Kingdom of Belgium.   The maturity date is  22 June 2031.

Duallisting of Bone Therepeutics in Brussels and Paris

As of 6 February 2015, the Biotech company Bone Therapeutics is listed both on Brussels and Paris. To celebrate this event, CEO Enrico Bastianelli opened the markets with a Bell Ceremony. Wim Goemaere, CFO, had the honor to write the first opening price on the blackboard. Belgian Traders Trophy 2014-2015 winner at Bell Ceremony

The winner Viktor Smits from University KU Leuven of the Belgian Traders Trophy 2014-2015 rang the closing bell on Euronext Brussels on 3 December 2014.

The Traders Trophy is a competition in trading of financial instruments for students worldwide. The Belgian final of the 4th edition of this competition took place in the stock exchange building. The trading simulations used for the Traders Trophy gives the participants the understanding of operating in a dealing room environment.

The final students from different Belgian top universities have participated in this unique challenge for the title :  “Best Student Trader of Belgium for 2014-2015”.
