Role Overview
Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Specialists play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure, automation, and processes that support the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) of the company’s trading platforms.
They ensure that systems are scalable, resilient, secure, and efficient, while promoting best practices in automation, observability, and continuous delivery. Acting as both technical experts and enablers, they work closely with Product, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to enhance productivity, streamline operations, and maintain service reliability in demanding trading environments.
This role requires accountability, autonomy, efficiency, and a strong focus on client success, product quality, operational resilience, and compliance with deadlines.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, automated software delivery.
- Build and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and container orchestration systems.
- Ensure monitoring, alerting, and logging capabilities to achieve full system observability, including first line of defense controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve scalability, performance, and deployment efficiency.
- Maintain accountability, autonomy, and efficiency in all infrastructure and deployment activities.
- Promote security, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
- Mentor junior DevOps Specialists, fostering technical growth, responsibility, and team spirit.
- Contribute directly to client success by maintaining highly available and reliable environments for trading systems.
- Provide regular updates and report activities to management.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Software Design and Development
- Design, implement, and manage automated build, test, and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to ensure seamless software delivery.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Build and operate scalable infrastructure on cloud and on-premises environments (AWS preferred).
- Manage containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Collaborate with Developers and Quality Assurance teams to streamline development and release workflows.
- Implement and maintain observability systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar stacks.
- Contribute to architectural discussions to support the evolution of scalable, automated, and efficient DevOps practices.
- Ensure continuous improvement of deployment and release processes to optimize time-to-market and operational stability.
- Quality, Accountability, Efficiency, and Compliance
- Ensure that all DevOps operations adhere to company quality, security, and compliance standards, particularly in the context of regulated financial systems.
- Demonstrate accountability in managing production environments, ensuring timely issue detection and resolution.
- Maintain full operational documentation for infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and incident response procedures.
- Automate recurring tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention (e.g. using Artificial Intelligence solutions compliant with the group policies).
- Conduct proactive monitoring and performance analysis to identify and mitigate potential risks before impacting production while including first line of defense controls on the company’s SDLC.
- Guarantee compliance with deadlines, internal policies, and client service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of client data, systems, and configurations.
- Promote a culture of responsibility, efficiency, and operational excellence across all activities.
- Provide regular updates and report activities to management.
- Collaboration and Client Success
- Work closely with Product, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure cohesive and reliable software delivery.
- Collaborate with Technical Account Managers and Application Management teams to ensure client environments are stable, efficient, and fully monitored.
- Translate client needs and feedback into technical improvements that enhance reliability and performance.
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders by providing technical expertise on deployment, scalability, and automation.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with teams and clients about incidents, updates, and planned improvements.
- Contribute to client success and customer care by ensuring operational reliability and minimizing downtime.
- Foster teamwork, professionalism, and shared accountability within and across departments.
- Leadership, Mentorship, and Continuous Improvement
- Mentor and support junior DevOps and SRE Specialists, promoting autonomy, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Encourage the adoption of modern tools, frameworks, and best practices to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and security automation.
- Lead by example in professionalism, responsibility, and commitment to quality and deadlines.
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, security, and release management processes.
- Drive continuous learning and process optimization, ensuring alignment with company strategy and industry standards.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the technology organization.
Profile & Qualifications
- BSC in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure automation roles, preferably in trading systems or fintech.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with IaC frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent).
- Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Proficiency in containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or equivalent languages.
- Understanding of networking, security principles, and system performance tuning.
- Basic knowledge of Linux systems.
- Experience with financial systems, trading workflows, or market data.
- Strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and efficiency.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work autonomously while maintaining a strong team spirit.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and product quality.
- Fluency in English and Italian (written and spoken).
