Senior backend developer – Settlement team.

Are you passionate about building modern, scalable solutions using Java technologies? Join our Settlement team as we develop and maintain new Settlement systems as part of our strategic Convergence project, a transformation initiative moving from mainframe to a cutting-edge Java platform.

At Euronext Securities, you'll collaborate closely with colleagues’ cross borders with a team of experienced developers, functional analysts, and QA specialists. Together, we’ll navigate a complex and dynamic financial domain that impacts clients across Europe.

About the Role

As a senior Java Software Developer, you'll support both the development and operational aspects of our Settlement applications. The position is based in Porto. This is a unique opportunity to influence a high-impact system within a critical financial infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, unit test, and maintain high-quality backend services using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement scalable, event-driven architectures.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs aligned with OpenAPI standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and system enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge with team members.
• Support unit testing and continuous integration pipelines.
• Use GIT for version control and team collaboration.
• Contribute to our observability setup (experience with OpenTelemetry is a plus).
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong foundation in software engineering principles (e.g. Clean Code, SOLID, basic Domain-Driven Design).
• Hands-on experience developing RESTful APIs using Java/Kotlin.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems; experience with Kafka is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in GIT and test-driven development.
• Knowledge of or interest in observability practices (e.g. logs, metrics, tracing).
• Experience with Quarkus or similar frameworks is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset.
