National Maritime Museum celebrates one millionth visitor

Back

Het Scheepvaartmuseum (The National Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam welcomed the one millionth visitor to the museum since the re-opening 2.5 years ago. Between 2007 and 2011 the museum was closed for the public, because it underwent a large remodeling and renovation project. Deputy Director, Ric van Wijk, sounds the gong.

Students of the school ‘CSG Ulbe van Houten’ were the lucky ones. They visited the museum for an educational program and were surprised by the museum staff. The National Maritime Museum, with its 13 exhibitions, explores the role of the sea in the becoming of the Netherlands. Visitors can discover the Dutch maritime past and present and step aboard the replica ship Amsterdam ( East Indiaman) and experience a real sailor’s life.
