Specialist
Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Test Specialist to own the testing of assigned product areas end-to-end and to bring an AI-first way of working into every part of the QA lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role.
The successful candidate will run sprint testing for their assigned areas, engage directly with Product Management (PMG) on requirements, and partner with the automation team to define what should and should not go into the automation suite for every meaningful change.
AI-first thinking is a non-negotiable for this role. We expect the person to actively apply AI across requirement analysis, test case generation, test data creation, defect triage, and reporting — in line with our Innovate for Growth 2027 mandate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Area Ownership & Sprint Testing
• Own end-to-end testing of assigned product areas across the sprint lifecycle — from grooming to sign-off.
• Design and execute test cases (with AI assistance wherever it accelerates the work), maintain them in QMetry, and drive defects through to closure in Jira.
• Ensure adequate coverage of functional, integration, and regression scenarios within sprint timelines.
• Maintain low defect slippage to UAT and production for the areas you own — quality of your area is your accountability, not the team's.
Requirement Discussions with PMG
• Partner with Product Management (PMG) during grooming and requirement discussions to clarify scope, edge cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Convert requirements into testable scenarios using AI-driven tooling as a first pass, then refine with domain judgement.
• Raise gaps or ambiguities early — before they become defects in later sprints or production incidents.
Automation Scope Discussions
• Partner with the automation team to define automation scope for every significant sprint change — what to automate, at what level (API, UI, integration), and when.
• Provide well-defined scenarios and expected outcomes so automation engineers can build reliable, low-flake tests.
• Review automated coverage for the areas you own and flag missing coverage or over-testing.
2. AI-First Testing Practices
• Treat AI as a default tool, not a novelty — apply it to requirement analysis, test case generation, test data creation, defect triage, and reporting.
• Contribute AI use cases back to the wider QA team — share what works, what doesn't, and where the efficiency gains come from.
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have Technical Skills
• Strong experience in functional and system testing across web-based products.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools (QMetry preferred) and defect tracking tools (Jira).
• Working knowledge of SQL for backend validation and data reconciliation testing.
• Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent) for backend verification.
• Understanding of how automation frameworks fit into the QA lifecycle — enough to have informed discussions with automation engineers about scope, coverage, and trade-offs.
• Comfort using AI-assisted testing tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as part of day-to-day work.
Must-Have Domain Knowledge
• Solid understanding of the capital markets domain — trade lifecycle, order management, commissions, and/or post-trade workflows.
• Prior experience in investment banking or buy-side / sell-side technology.
Must-Have Soft Skills
• AI-first mindset — defaults to AI as the starting point for any repeatable task, actively looks for efficiency and quality gains, and encourages the rest of the team to do the same.
•
Strong ownership of assigned product areas — accountable for quality outcomes, not just execution.
•
Confident stakeholder engagement with PMG, Development, and Automation teams; comfortable pushing back on requirements or scope where quality is at risk.
• Clear communication — can explain testing decisions, defect impact, and coverage trade-offs to both technical and business audiences.
• Individual contributor maturity — delivers reliably in an IC role without heavy oversight, and knows when to escalate.
Nice to Have
• Exposure to BDD / Cucumber for shared understanding with the automation team.
• Familiarity with mobile testing workflows.
• Prior experience testing commission management, order management, or post-trade platforms.
