GRSS Head of Licensing and Business Development
Mission Overview
The Global Head of Licensing and Business Development is responsible for defining, implementing, and evolving the Group’s global commercial strategy across both licensing and broader business development activities for all benchmarks operated by GRSS and its clients.
This role aims to secure and grow sustainable, long-term revenues by combining best-in-class licensing practices with a proactive, structured approach to identifying, prioritising, and executing new business opportunities across IBOR and non-IBOR benchmarks worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
1. Licensing Strategy & Execution
- Define and implement licensing models tailored to each benchmark operated by GRSS entities and by GRSS clients, ensuring consistency, regulatory alignment, and commercial relevance.
- Establish, maintain, and communicate pricing grids for each benchmark, and monitor their correct and consistent application across the Group.
- Define and monitor licensing KPIs (revenues, product mix, client concentration, vendor exposure, etc.).
- Develop and maintain three-year licensing revenue forecasts, including detailed variance analysis vs. actuals, with a focus on protecting and optimising revenues from legacy benchmarks.
- Act as the Group’s primary point of contact for data vendors, maintaining and strengthening long-term relationships, and leading discussions on licensing terms, distribution models, and commercial developments.
2. Business Development Strategy & Market Expansion
- Define and drive the Group’s global business development strategy across IBOR and non-IBOR benchmarks, in alignment with GRSS’s strategic positioning and growth ambitions.
- Identify, systematically map, and continuously update the global universe of relevant benchmark opportunities (IBORs and adjacent rates, as well as non-IBOR benchmarks). Assess opportunities based on clear criteria (market size, revenue potential, regulatory context, competitive landscape, feasibility, and strategic fit).
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities, with clear prioritisation and execution roadmaps.
3. Origination & Deal Structuring
- Lead the origination of new mandates with benchmark administrators, financial institutions, market infrastructures, and other relevant stakeholders globally.
- Design and structure commercial frameworks adapted to each opportunity, ensuring alignment between value creation and revenue capture.
- Develop robust business cases and financial models to support decision-making and internal approvals.
- Lead or support negotiations with prospective clients and partners, in close coordination with senior management and legal teams.
4. Market Intelligence & Strategic Positioning
- Maintain a strong understanding of global benchmark developments, including regulatory trends, IBOR transitions, and emerging benchmark needs.
- Monitor competitor activity and market structure evolution to anticipate opportunities and risks.
