Euronext joins the global 'Ring the Bell for Gender Equality' initiative from Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo and Paris to celebrate International Women’s Day

For the eighth consecutive year, Euronext takes part in 'Ring the Bell for Gender Equality' — a collaboration of stock exchanges around the world ringing opening or closing bell ceremonies to celebrate International Women’s Day and promote the Women's Empowerment Principles. The initiative is a partnership between the UN Global Compact, IFC, Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative, UN Women, the World Federation of Exchanges and Women in ETFs to raise awareness about the business case for women’s economic empowerment and the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year, the United Nations theme for International Women’s Day 2022: “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.

Amsterdam

Physical Opening Gong ceremony with partners UN Women and Women in EFTs. The Gong ceremony is followed by a panel discussion with three female leaders from the financial industry, including Euronext Amsterdam’s CEO Simone in ‘t Veld.

In a live panel discussion, they will share their personal experiences and ‘lessons learned’ as an example for future generations, followed by a Q&A session from the audience present. The morning will end with a speed-dating session between students in finance and five women working in financial markets.

IWD Brussels 2022

Brussels

Virtual Opening Bell Ceremony following by a fireside discussion with partners Family Business Network (FBN). During the event, Fiona Du Monceau, Vice-Chairwoman of UCB, Michèle Sioen, CEO of Sioen Industries, Sophie Velge, vice-president of FBN,  and Vincent Van Dessel, CEO Euronext Brussels, will discuss diversity within family businesses, gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow and many other topics.

Dublin

Physical Closing Bell Ceremony with Women in ETFs. Daryl Byrne, CEO of Euronext Dublin will welcome guests and a short address from Women in ETFs will follow. The ceremony will be followed by a keynote speech from guest speaker Ann Prendergast, Senior Managing Director, Head of State Street Global Advisors Europe Ltd. Participants will then be invited to join informal round table discussions to address gender pay gap, hybrid working, career breaks, women and investing, diversity from within and Work Life Balance. Each topic will be led by a speaker from Women in ETFs.

Virtual Bell Ceremony with UN Global Compact Network Portugal. The ceremony will be followed by a virtual panel discussion about “Gender equality: return on investment”, under UN’s generic theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Tiago Freire, Director of Exame magazine, will moderate panel discussions with Isabel Ucha, CEO of Euronext Lisbon, Pedro Leitão, CEO of Banco Montepio, José Soares de Pina, CEO of Altri, and Maria João Coelho, Head of Sustainability Knowledge of BCSD. The event will end with closing remarks by Mário Parra da Silva, Chair of the Board of UN Global Compact.

Hybrid Opening Bell Ceremony with Fabrizio Testa, CEO Borsa Italiana and Silvia Bosoni, Group Head of ETFs, Borsa Italiana who will have a welcome remarks and introduction. Daniela Bernacchi, Executive Director UN Global Compact Network Italy, will make the keynote speech focusing on the private sector engagement on gender equality landscape. Roberta Gastaldello, Head of ETF Distribution Italy, J.P.Morgan AM, will provide a global overview of the Women in ETF initiatives to support and inspire diversity and inclusion, followed by Alessandra Franzosi, Head of Buyside Italy & ESG Investing, Borsa Italiana, who will give an update on the latest trends and future challenges in ESG Investing. Closing remarks by Marina Forquet Famiglietti, HR Director Italy and Fixed income, Borsa Italiana.

Virtual Opening Bell Ceremony on the theme of ‘Women in finance’. The partners for the event will be the UN Global Compact and AksjeNorge. Following the bell ringing, speeches will be delivered by Cathrine Lorvik Segerlund, Communication manager Oslo Børs, Kristin Skaug, CEO AksjeNorge and Kim Noguera Gabrielli, CEO UN Global Compact Norway.

Virtual Opening Bell Ceremony and presentation with Euronext’s Delphine d’Amarzit, CEO Euronext Paris, and the partners UN Women France, UN Global Compact Network France, Women in ETFs and 30% Club France Investor Group.
Floriane de Saint Pierre from Ethics & Boards will share a study on diversity and responsible governance, followed by a panel discussion with Nathalie Guez, Women in ETFs, Marie-Sybille Connan, the 30% Club France Investor Group, Laurence Peyraut, Global Compact France and Céline Mas, UN Women France.
