31/12/2014 Run4Schools Foundation celebrates 10th anniversary by sounding final gong of 2014 Amsterdam expand

The Run4Schools Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary by sounding the final gong of the year.

The gong is sounded in the presence of the run2oceans4schools team 2015 that will run the 56 tough kilometers of the Two Oceans Marathon on 4 April 2015 in Cape Town. The runners run to raise money for the foundation to finance both in- and after- school sports activities and care at four primary schools in the township of Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town, South Africa. The after school sports activities prove to be an effective instrument to keep children away from gangs and prevents them from engaging in drugs, crime or worse. Over 4.500 children are participating in the programs on a weekly basis. Running ambassador, Arjan Wennekes, sounds the gong.

Member of Parliament on behalf of the ChristenUnie, Gert Jan Seegers, opens trading on behalf of the Foundation Help for Aid Workers.

Mr Seegers is one of the initiators who have submitted a motion in which they ask the Government to create a knowledge center that helps signaling violence against professional and voluntary aid workers. On Monday 29 December the foundation also launches the results of a survey on the declaration willingness among 2551 aid workers in The Netherlands.Many aid workers are struggling to report because they are afraid of threats and reprisals.The report is available right after the gong ceremony.

The winners of the RTL Z Trading Game visit Euronext Amsterdam and sound the gong together with partner ING Sprinters.

From November 10 until December 19, Dutch television channel RTL Z hosted the fourth series of the Trading Game together with ING Sprinters. In the game investors receive 100.000 EUR virtual money to learn how to invest in shares, ETF’s, options and Sprinters. Players could buy and sell products at real time prices. Besides real time trading, players could also watch a weekly TV program at RTL Z, participate in online webinars, read columns from analysts and follow trading portfolios of experts active in the game. The trading game was available at smartphone, tablet and desktop. So people could play the game anywhere and anytime. In 2015, RTL Z will host a new Trading Game.

22/12/2014 Philips draws attention to UN initiative ‘Every Woman Every Child’ Amsterdam expand

On 9 December 2014 Michel Mailly, Public Auction Officer, has rang the Closing Bell to celebrate the launch of the Euronext Expert Market in the presence of its new members.

Euronext Expert Market is Euronext’s new secondary market (a Multilateral Trading Facility) that allows selling non-listed securities. It is the first one if its kind in Europe, organised by an Exchange.

It originates from the Belgian Public Auction Market in existence since 1873.

The fixing will take place every Tuesday at 12:00 for securities, bonds and other fixed income instruments and can be followed on the website of Euronext.

To prevent further contamination, SOS Children's Villages have set up emergency aid because of the lack of protective clothing, equipment and disinfectants. Representatives from State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) SPDR® ETFs team and from Euroclear Bank celebrate 13 SPDR® ETFs domiciliation on a unique platform in Ireland.

SPDR ETFs had a number of exciting developments over 2014. They reached a milestone of $10 billion in asset under management in Europe earlier in the year and more recently announced a range of enhancements to their product platform. This included reducing fees across 15 core equity and fixed income ETFs, consolidating all funds onto a single UCITS platform and moving 13 funds onto a single, centralised settlement structure that will issue and settle via an international central securities depository (ICSD) through Euroclear Bank.

Station Director Erik de Zwart of Radio Veronica, part of Euronext listed Telegraaf Media Groep, sounds the gong to call attention to the Big Veroniklaas-action.

Together with the National Childrens Fund and the Friends Lottery, Radio Veronica raised money to provide children in the Netherlands who live poverty with a gift for Sinterklaas holiday.  Listeners were asked to make a donation and votes for the Top 1000 also yielded money. On 5 December, the cheque showing the total amount of money and gifts raised will be personally handed to Sinterklaas at the Veronica Ship in Amsterdam.

The winner Viktor Smits from University KU Leuven of the Belgian Traders Trophy 2014-2015 rang the closing bell on Euronext Brussels on 3 December 2014.

The Traders Trophy is a competition in trading of financial instruments for students worldwide. The Belgian final of the 4th edition of this competition took place in the stock exchange building. The trading simulations used for the Traders Trophy gives the participants the understanding of operating in a dealing room environment.

The final students from different Belgian top universities have participated in this unique challenge for the title :  “Best Student Trader of Belgium for 2014-2015”.

03/12/2014 Lucille Werner sounds gong to mark International Day of People with Disability Amsterdam expand

Television host Lucille Werner sounds the gong to mark International Day of People with Disability. On this day, the winners of the Business Walk of Fame are announced, a new initiative of the Lucille Werner Foundation.

The Business Walk of Fame is a promenade of star-filled tiles, awarded to companies that are commited to an inclusive labor market. The Business Walk of Fame is located at the Zuidas in Amsterdam. Lucille Werner: “In a time where companies are forced to think about this subject in regards to the law of participation, we want to positively reward and stimulate those companies that have taken their first steps.”

The Lucille Werner Foundation aims to strengthen the position of people with a disability in the Netherlands. Initiating high-profile television programs and creating jobs are key. By demonstrating a powerful and positive image, people with a disability will be able to easier integrate into society.
