STMicroelectronics is one of the world leaders in the design, production and marketing of semiconductors. Net sales break down by product family as follows:
- analogue and integrated circuits for specific applications (62.6%): circuits for computer peripherals (data storage and power conversion products, monitors, printers), telecom applications (cellular telephones and infrastructures, networks), and automobiles (airbags, braking systems, motors, car radios, etc.);
- micro-controllers, linear and discrete circuits (33.8%): rectifiers, protective devices, power transistors, radio components, integrated logic circuits, etc.;
- memory products (3%): flash memories, programmable memories, electric memories that can be erased and re-programmed, etc.;
- other (0.6%): sub-systems intended primarily for industrial, telecom module, automotive, and industrial applications.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the Netherlands (27.8%), Singapore (50.2%), the United States (10.5%), Japan (5%), Italy (1.9%), France (1.8%), and other (2.8%).
