Annual reweighting of indices
In accordance with the rules for the AEX index (AEX) and the rules for the Amsterdam Midkap index (AMX), each index is reweighted annually on the first day of trading in March. This year’s reweighting will lead to the following changes in the composition of the indices, which will come into effect on Tuesday 2 March 2003.
AEX index
- Versatel Telecom International will be included in the AEX index.
- LogicaCMG will be removed from the AEX index.
Amsterdam Midkap index
- Corus Group, Koninklijke Bam Groep, Laurus, LogicaCMG, Koninklijke Nedlloyd and Stork will be included in the Amsterdam Midkap index.
- Draka Holding, Rodamco Asia, United Services Group and VastNed Offices/Industrial will be removed from the Amsterdam Midkap index.
The definitive weightings of the AEX and Amsterdam Midkap index constituents as of Tuesday 2 March 2004 are attached.
Record trading volumes in AEX index options
In 2003 trading volumes in AEX index options at Euronext.liffe, Euronext’s international derivatives exchange, reached a new record of 14.1 million contracts, an increase of 55% compared with 2002. AEX index options are now the fastest growing options on a leading European national index. Today, more than 85 products, including investment funds, warrants and certificates, are linked to the highly popular AEX index.
