KAS BANK admitted as depotbank in Frankfurt and Stuttgart
KAS BANK N.V. has been admitted for Xontro trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse) and on the Exchange of Stuttgart (Börse Stuttgart). With this admission, KAS BANK is the first Dutch bank permitted to act as depotbank for brokers (“Maklers”) trading via the Xontro system in Frankfurt and Stutgartt. These brokers need a depotbank for the settlement of their transactions. A trading license is required in order to act as depotbank. KAS BANK is in the process of extending its depotbank services to other German stock exchanges. Xontro is an electronic order routing system for the regional stock exchanges in Germany.
KAS BANK has been active in Germany since the introduction of the Central Counter Party principle (CCP) in 2003. KAS BANK started as General Clearing Member (GCM) for transactions on Xetra, the electronic trading system of Deutsche Börse. Since 2005 KAS BANK also provides settlement services for Xontro transactions to banks (“Kreditinstituten”). Trading members trading on Xetra as well as on the Frankfurter Floor are required to use one GCM for their Xetra and Xontro business. KAS BANK is now in the position to provide these GCM services to banks and brokers.
This connection is a further substantiation of KAS BANK’s strategy to realise direct connections to all significant European securities and derivatives exchanges. With this, KAS BANK strengthens its position as the European specialist in securities and derivatives services provided to banks, brokers and institutional investors.
