FIME joins Groupe Silicomp

Groupe Silicomp (Paris FR0000063794) – Groupe Silicomp acquires the operations of its supplier FIME, in
France and Taiwan. The combination of test centre expertise with that of Silicomp provides a more
complete offering to the market in the areas of electronic payment system and Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID*).

Based in Caen (France) and Taipei (Taiwan), FIME is an independent test centre specialising in certification tests
for cards and terminals. This ISO170125 certified laboratory operates mainly in the electronic payment system,
transport, identity and health sectors. The FIME laboratory, a leader in Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) tests, is
today notably accredited by MasterCard International, Visa International and Syndicat des Transports d’Ile de
France (STIF).

FIME has an R&D team and a particularly advanced unique expertise in contact and contactless technologies. It
has developed an original complete range of services around the PayPass Technology for contactless payments,

This merger is fully in line with the Groupe Silicomp’s consistent strategy and demonstrates its commitment to
retain its technological advance. It enables Silicomp to complete its security offering and to strengthen its
presence in the electronic payment systems sector with MasterCard International and also with new accounts
such as Visa International and JCB International Co. Ltd (JCB is the world’s Nº3 supplier of payment cards after
Visa and MasterCard)

For FIME, this merger represents an opportunity to access a larger clientele and a wider geographic base in a
structured Group.

FIME employs some 30 people in France as well as 10 people in Taiwan. FIME’s profitable operations realised
approximately € 3 million in sales in 2004, which is forecast to grow strongly in 2005. The FIME business,
acquired without its liabilities, will be consolidated with effect from 1 August 2005. This acquisition will be highly
relutive considering financial conditions of the deal.

(*) RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is a technology that enables the contactless marking and identification of
products by electronic microchips, with many applications in transport, logistics, security (e-passport), health, etc.
